![]() ![]() I used to go to church every Sunday (unwillingly, my dad made me). I got my christening, baptism, and confirmation done during my childhood. I’m Catholic, born and raised in the faith. Only reason we don’t see it that way because the Bishops made it this feel like “revenge story” of sorts when in reality you’re really no better than them as you gain power and you’re really just the upstart that’s out there for their lives.ĭon’t get me wrong, I still had fun but it’s not a game I can play consistently from start to finish due to the themes and I personally know what cults are capable of having walked into cult-like situations and reading on them. However admittedly, this has to be the best “villain experience” you could have in a video game. If it weren’t for the cutesy art direction, this game would get a higher age rating for sure. You assign them a name and appearance? Classic cult tactics and initiation so you are not becoming your own person anymore that you’ll eventually lose agency of yourself.įor real, props to the devs for doing their research. Drugs to enfeeble the mind? They can now see “miracles”. Followers keep working without pay? That’s about right since you already provided them with a paradise on earth with food and shelter. Feed them poop? Sure, some would gain faith after being sick. You’re done with someone? Sacrifice them or just straight up murder them at night. Still dissenting? Feed it a fellow follower to send them a message. I’m a Muslim and the tactics employed in this game to run a cult is eerily accurate to a T and honestly there are several moments I get disturbed by the actions the Lamb is capable of to ensure the stability of the cult.įollowers dissenting? Lock em up. the BOI may be a game to most, but for him it was a way to cope with his life issues. His story isnt as simple as, he had an idea and ran with it but a form of passion and self reflection on his pain and suffering in life. Most of this info came from several different documentaries done on McMillian or documentaries about games that also included McMillian's success story in the indie game scene. He still interacts with his family but makes it a point to not bring up obvious issues and they also agree to do the same in his presence and obviously dont invite him to more religious celebrations. He has sense come to terms with his family about his childhood as an adult and while they never formally apologized, merely stated they thought they were doing what was best for him and what they believed and still did believe. Metaphorically attacking him and insulating that he was created wrong. When asked the obvious, no his mother never tried to kill him physically, but as an artist and a very creative, imaginative, and emotional little boy felt like they were killing his soul while he was growing up. Many of the cutscenes make refrence to that in the BOI with isaac clearly enjoying art and drawing and having an extensive imagination and being very emotionally sensitive, not unlike McMillian, and being thrown away and shunned into his room which is the only place he ever felt truly safe, the chest representing his own mind and how it eventually turned to turmoil when he became older due to his own self reflection and doubt. HE is isaac in the story, in his own words, and when he was young he was constantly reprimanded for his want to be an artist as his art typically wasnt something that Christians would see as. they are our children to protect and love and deal with their literal and metaphorical shit.Įdmund McMillian, the creator of the BOI has gone on record as saying the reason why he made the game the way he did was a sort of protest towards his families overly religious backing. And in the end we have to take responsibility for them when the one who waits demands we give them over. And us, the player character, the lamb, is the teacher/baby sitter. ![]() And they'd love it if you just kinda off'd them to get them out of the daycare becuase they want to be with 'mom or dad' instead akin to asking to be sacrificed for the old gods. Even the missions they give like feeding someone else poop, again HAVE YOU SEEN MODERN DAY CHILDREN!?!?! bunch of fucking fecophiliacs for fun. They constantly have issues with naptime, breaking their shit and all that and even if you give them a task their is a 97% chance they'll do something else because they felt like it. They cant feed themselves but you can slowly teach them basic tasks. And if you've ever seen a modern day daycare, these kids try to literally murder eachother and will gladly attempt to enlist you're aid if they can. ![]()
